A Demonstration of the Trusted Driver Technology

These pages provide a demonstration of the Trusted Driver technology, using Google Maps to simulate the collection of GPS data, and database queries on the Location Processing Service and Payment Processing Service servers.

Please play with the demo! It is most instructive when two or three people are palying simultaneously, as you can see then how the databases fill up with data from multiple cars.

Note that although the Trusted Driver concept allows for the use of the web, with map-based mashups, this particular demonstration is intended to explain how Trusted Driver works. It is not intended to represent the experience of the end user.

The "Demonstration" tab takes you to several other pages.

  • The Live Demo page lets you take the part of the On-Board Unit (OBU) in a car.
  • The Itemised Bill page shows how a user can obtain an itemised bill from his own computer, without this personal information being revealed to anyone else.
  • The Clear Databases page resets the databases.

Note that this demo does not work with Internet Explorer (ask Bill...). Please use Firefox or Chrome.

Live Demo

The Live Demo page allows you to:

  • drive somewhere, and watch the journeys appear on the Google map.
  • send the journey data anonymously to the Location Processing Service (LPS) and receive back a price for the journey.
  • send the accumulated price (but no journey information) to the Payment Processing Service.
